Shawn left for his year-long tour of duty in Iraq on October 8th. Steven, Nana, and I were there to see him off. It is such a heart-breaking scene as families and friends said goodbye to their loved ones and watched them board the buses that would take them to the airfield. Being apart is never easy, but I am not sure Shawn or I was prepared for just how difficult this would be. This is my second deployment, and as hard as it was last time, this time is that much harder. Shawn is struggling with missing out on so much of Steven's first year, so to make it easier, I am sending him a daily photo of the little man so he can watch his Piggy Pie grow!
